Money Saving Apps I Use

For those that ask how I save money, I wanted to provide a list of apps that I use to help me get cash back on purchases or to just earn gift cards or even just to have a chance to win various goodies. There are an insane more apps out there than I am posting. Saying that, these are the ones that I personally found most desirable.
  • *Swagbucks: Earn points for various activities, which can be exchanged for gift cards. Honestly I pretty much just earn my points by using it as my default search engine. You can also earn sb by shopping through the app.
  • *MyPoints: Various ways to earn points.

Cash Back Apps

  •  Apps for specific stores - not all stores have apps and some that do have apps I personally have found to be useless. However I personally find that it's worth it to check for apps for anywhere you make purchases (stores or restaurant) to see if they offer special mobile discounts or even chances to win free goodies. There are 3 examples at the bottom of this page.
  • *Fetch Rewards: Please use my code YG7GU - if you do we will both get a bonus =) Earn points for buying various products and for taking pictures of your receipts. Plus you can now earn points for select online purchases by linking account to amazon and/or your email so it can "scan" receipts. Takes a decent number of receipts - depending on what you buy - to earn enough points for a gift card. Still I find it worth it because takes such little time.
  • *Swagbucks Answer: Part of the Swagbucks program - now with this app you can earn swagbucks for taking pictures of your receipts.
  • *Checkout 51: The usefulness of this app for you will depend on what you normally buy. With this app, if you purchase things on the app then you can earn cash back for those purchases. After you buy the products, then submit the receipt by taking pictures of it (while in the app). Be sure to submit the receipt as soon as can because sometimes offers to run out. Once you reach $20 then you can request payment by paypal or a paper check.
  • *Ibotta: Like Checkout 51, just a lot better (in my opinion). Add offers to your account. Then purchase the items prior to the expiration date. Depending on the store, to claim the purchases it will either happen automatically by going through a store's reward card or by taking pictures of the receipt. Can cash out at $20 through venmo, paypal or with gift cards.
  • *Makeena: My code is PEVDFU -  similar to Ibotta and Receipt Hog. However it's for healthy stuff AND you can earn points to turn into rewards by taking pictures of your receipts.
  • *Coin Out: Earn a tiny bit for taking pictures of receipts. Also can get credit for online and Amazon orders by connecting your email and amazon accounts. Can get money through direct deposit, Amazon gift card or Paypal. It's not big bucks, still it's essentially free money for hardly any effort, which I LOVE! Oh, this one you sign up with your phone number, instead of an e-mail address.
  • BoxTops: This doesn't directly help you. However you can earn more box tops credits for a school of your choosing by using this app.
  • *GasBuddy: Find out reported gas prices at locations in your area, or where you will be going. Also, can sign up for a card (like debit card) to use for gas purchases. The card links to your bank account. The benefit of it is that you save 5 cents per gallon on each purchase, which can be used with store rewards cards. By signing up with my link/code (EB8WVJU) you will save 10 cents per gallon on your first fillup with GasBuddy Pay (which I will also get to save too).
  • Receipt Hog: This is a slow earner, still I really like it because takes such a limited amount of time. All you do is take pictures of your receipts (most qualify for points or entries for sweeps). Then you can cash out by paypal payment or amazon gift card.
  • Coupons dot com: The app is great because you can submit receipts for things purchased that you have activated a coupon for. Then payout happens fairly quickly to paypal automatically after submitting your receipt. So, if you don't have a printed coupon with you then you can still save. Plus you can print your walmart grocery order receipts and scan it, if you do pickup or delivery for your groceries.
  • Weis Markets: I love Weis because paper and e-coupons can both be used. Plus any coupon with a value of under $1.00 gets fully doubled. Back in the day coupons only got doubled to a total of $1.00. Another awesome thing is that the digital coupons double too! Just if you are using digital coupons be sure to tell the cashier that you have them and not to get clear happy because might need an override.
  • Target Cartwheel: Add manufacturer and store coupons to your account. Then have the cashier scan the barcode during checkout to apply the coupons.
